Okiwi Bay - 22nd January 2005
Aye matey’s, it was a slightly overcast day when the pirates pulled into
Within minutes of landing upon these fine shores the divers were keen for some loot, and set off on hunting for some scallops for their evening feast. The six divers paired off, and I was fortunate to have the ol’ bounty hunter John as my buddy. John, having been cunning enough to seek reports from the other divers before heading to the depths of the ocean, led me to a fruitful spot where the viz was good and we returned with our quota of 100 keepers.
Meanwhile back on the beach the 12 junior pirates were keen for some bounty of their own, and set off on a treasure hunt which landed them some fine loot. The 21 fully fledged adult pirates were assaulted and held up with plastic guns, and other assorted plastic weapons by junior pirates (decked out in eye patches, swords, pirate hats and accessories), well into the night!
There was much eating, swimming (deliciously warm water), sleeping, snorkelling and fishing on the island before the boys embarked on some good kiwi rugby ball throwing. …and then it was time to leave our little spot of paradise.
